The Year End Appeal – we help you determine what to include.

An effective year-end appeal should be compelling to the recipient. Focus on the impact of their support more than the actual dollar amount to be given. – some things to consider when writing the appeal:

  • Consistent Messaging – make sure you are using consistent messaging.

  • Your ask should be Goal Oriented – be sure to set specific goals, help them to feel a part of the project.

  • Help the recipient to have a Feeling of Gratitude, how can they help others that maybe are less fortunate than them.

  • Using Personalization helps donors feel valued as they invest in you.

    • Personalize the direct mail appeal

    • Segment donors – are they volunteers, members, donors, etc.  Each of these groupings may give for differing reasons.

    • Past giving and targeted giving – an individual that is donating at the $10,000 level may need different messaging than someone that is giving at the $10 level. Help them both to feel valued in their support of the organization.

    • Focus energy on The Donor

      • Utilize “you” statements – “Because of your support we were able to add 6 additional activity stations”

      • Acknowledge the donors participation – “Thank you for your hard work, volunteers like you help to make the foodshelf possible”

      • Don’t forget the Why – “without your help and support Live theatre wouldn’t be possible in our community.”
