Why Every Door Direct Mail for your Campaign?

Reaching Your Constituents

One of the most challenging things to do as a political candidate is reaching your constituents in an effective and thoughtful way. Depending on the district that you represent it can be extra difficult to actually get to everyone’s door for a personal door knock and conversation.  Finding volunteers to go door to door with a lit drop is also hard to do.  With people’s lives changing and becoming more active it is harder for them to find time to volunteer for that type of activity.

Take a County Commissioner Race for example, your district could include miles and miles of country roads that would require you to go from farm to farm.  The cost for fuel and the time lost in between properties can really add up.

Every Door Direct Mail (EDDM) - Made Easy at Tri M Graphics

One easy way to reach most of your audience is through Every Door Direct Mail (EDDM).  The United States Post Office program called EDDM is an affordable way to make contact.  The nice thing about an EDDM mailer is that you do NOT need mailing addresses.  You don’t have to secure or purchase a database.  This is closer to what the US Post Office calls a saturation mailer.  With EDDM your political campaign can save time and money.

With the EDDM program you would look at a map of your district and then select Postal Carrier Routes that are within your district.  The one challenge is that not all Postal Districts match up exactly with your political district so there may be a little bit of an overlap.  This challenge is far outweighed by the benefits of using this service.  Since you are picking the routes to use, you can pick and choose those that you want.  If you feel like you are more challenged with a certain part of your district you can just mail to those routes if you want – you do not have to mail to all of the routes in your district.  We just can’t split up Postal Routes – you have to mail to a complete route.

The nice thing about working with a company like Tri M Graphics for your next EDDM Mailing is that we will help you figure out what routes to mail to within your district.  We still give you a chance to review that list of routes and help edit out any routes that you don’t want to mail to.  Tri M Graphics helps to take the guess work out of this process.

Save Time & Money with EDDM

Postage on an EDDM Mailing is around .218 each, so the postage is affordable for your campaign.  If you are working with Tri M Graphics, we not only print your piece, we also take care of all of the postal paperwork, sorting and delivery to the post office for you.  With an active campaign, it is nice to find ways to take the busy work out of your schedule. This helps you to focus on meeting and having personal contact with your constituents.

There are size and weight requirements for this type of mailer.  EDDM mailings follow the Flat mailing guidelines of the US Post Office, you will want to make sure that your mailing meets those requirements.  As a seamless mail provider with the US Postal Service, Tri M Graphics has worked hard to understand those requirements and will help you meet them.

When designing your EDDM Mailer, you have a lot of space on the card to work with.  It is important to include photos as well as important content about you and your position on important issues.  The mailing side of the card is probably the most important side of the card as this is the side that usually comes up when the mail goes in the mailbox.

Did you know that 82% of people trust print ads more than any other type of advertisement.

Multiple Channels Needed - Remember Print!

Having multiple channels of reaching your audience is important, but making sure to include print in that mix is critical.  EDDM mailings do not get lost in the spam or junk folder on your computer.  When people review the mail in the mailbox at a minimum you will have at least the equivalent of a billboard look before they may throw it in the recycling.  However with this said, more often than not the mail will be set on a desk or table and picked up multiple times before it hits recycling.  Direct Mail is an incredibly effective way to have a meaningful contact with your audience.
